Rising Star 2 Grand Finale: Four finalists to compete for trophy after a shocking elimination!

Published by - Shruti Srivastava | Updated: Apr 15, 2018 06:09 IST

The second and successful season of India's only LIVE singing reality show 'Rising Star' is just a few hours away from it's Grand Finale and Saturday's Semi Final came as a shocker to everyone. The Top 6 finalists of the show.. Zaid Ali, Chetan Brijwasi, Vishnumaya Mahesh, Hemant Brijwasi, Akhtar Brothers and Rohanpreet Singh were in the race to finale and season's last eviction was to happen last night.

Rocking the BARC ratings yet again, 'Rising Star 2' was last week at No. 6 position of the most watched tv show's TRP list and also the only reality show to have entered the Top 15 list.

While last week we saw Varun Dhawan bringing the house down during his LIVE stint on the show as guest and who was later joined by his 'October' co-actress Banita Sandhu, this time on Semi Finale it was his first heroine from 'SOTY', Alia Bhatt.

The stunner who also shot some adorable promos for the show this week, finally came to sweep everyone off their feet with her sweet yet hot appearance on the show.

Season 2 that started on 21st January, comes to an end today i.e Sunday night, after 3 months.

One of the three judges on the show, Alia Bhatt's 'Udta Punjab' co-actor Diljit Dosanjh gave her a grand welcome and post that, with the two other judges Shankar Mahadevan, Monali Thakur, host Ravi Dubey and the 6 finalists..the show was a total entertainer with beautiful singing and some fun games.

Alia Bhatt also crooned songs, some with the contestants too but there came a time when everyone was left shocked.

We know that Hemant Brijwasi already won the Ticket to Finale last week and wasn't performing in Semi Final.

So it was the fight for the rest of the Top 3 positions and the battle began with 'choote nusrat' Zaid Ali performing the superhit sufi song by Kailash Kher.. 'Teri Deewani'. The 11 yr old wonder-kid set the percentage target to a huge 88% and the reactions by judges is obvious.. the 'Tutaari' and the praises.

The next was 11 yr old Chetan Brijwasi, the younger brother of Hemant who's considered the weakest among Top 6 finalists and which is the totally opposite of his super-rocking brother who fans believe is the sure-shot winner of the show.

Chetan yet again picked an energetic song to perform which should have helped him hugely as he does the best in this genre but the 'Afghan Jalebi' could only fetch him 68 percent votes.

12 yr old Vishnumaya Mahesh from Kerala aka 'Chhoti Chitra' was next and the girl who not only left us mesmerised with her super singing but her acting skills too by doing her 'thangabali' acts, this time sang 'Bairi Piya' from 'Devdas'.

Dressed as a bengali woman, Vishnumaya had the target of 68 to beat and she too received 88% votes like Zaid. Shankarji gives his 'tutaari'.

Chetan gets out of the race for the title and gets eliminated.

The contestants next, croon Alia's hit songs as a tribute for her while she stands with them on stage.

Apart from Hemant, another strong contender of the title this year is 23 yr old Rohanpreet Singh, the handsome guy donning a turban and whose smile make girls go weak in knees. Known for his melodious voice and flawless singing, Rohan performed the iconic Arijit Singh song 'Tum Hi Ho'. The delivery didn't match his earlier magic but his popularity worked for him and he gained 89% votes. The wall rises.

Before taking competition ahead, it was time to release the first song from Alia's upcoming film 'Raazi'.. called 'Ae Watan'. Shankar accompanied Alia on stage. Alia dedicates the song to the 'unsung heroes' who sacrificed their lives for the love of nation.

And then both of them sang the song together... 'Ae watan mere watan'.

It was now the 'Suron Ki Tsunami' Akhtar Brothers's turn and the fantastic duo sang the 'London Dreams' song 'Barso Yaaro' which got them a standing ovation along with the 'tutaari'.

The target was 89% but the brothers-duo got 79 percent, hence having had to bid goodbye to the show.

While Chetan's elimination was almost predicted, Akhtar Brothers' eliminated left many shocked.
